Homework, early hours cause loss of sleep
advertising
Editor, the Advocate:

In V.I.S.D., the school hours run from 8:05 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. However, students from elementary to high school struggle each morning with staying awake in class.

As the years have progressed, the curriculum at all levels of school has increased dramatically so that each child gets all the information they possibly can. The amount of homework given outside of school merges with the time children need for sleep and spending time with their families.

I am suggesting the amount of homework be cut in half so that each child gets an ample amount of time to study what they have. Also, school hours should run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to allow time for plenty sleep and personal time outside of school.
