Three people escaped an early morning house fire uninjured Thursday, but their home at 1606 Mesquite Lane was destroyed. This quarterly payment program is for homesteads with an over-65 or disabled exemption. Taxpayers are also reminded that penalty and interest of 7 percent begins on Feb. 1 and increases 2 percent each month until June. EDNA - State Highway 111 at the railroad crossing in Edna will be closed beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday until 6 a.m. Monday. The closure is to allow Kansas City Southern to install rail at the intersection. Flashing message boards alerting motorists to the closure should be erected Friday. Traffic will be detoured through city streets with appropriate signage to guide motorists, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Transportation. more >>
